Brought up in the UK, Julia's earliest recollection of music is of her strumming a 4-string ukulele at the age of 3 for her father — her first audience. Soon she began taking classical guitar lessons — that is, until she discovered the distortion pedal at the age of 16. A local band needed a bass player, so she quickly made the switch back to a 4-string.
London’s music scene provided many opportunities for Julia, who quickly became a member of several female bands, including "Sweet 16" and "PDQ," and played various London nightclubs, including the famous Hippodrome. Julia became the bass player for the all-female original rock band "Rock Goddess," headlining sold-out performances at the Marquee Club in London. Endorsed by Aria Pro guitars, she appeared regularly in rock magazines published across Europe, including Kerrang, Hard Force, Metal Attack, Metal Forces, Hard Force, Metal Edge, Metal Demons, and Metal Hammer.
On moving to New York, Julia helped form two all-female rock bands, "First Offense" and then "Brigade," which played venues all over the tri-state area. Having gained a loyal following of fans, these groups opened for various national acts, such as "American Angel," "Britny Fox," "Tall Stories" and "Cleavage."
